The Motherload Pistol Club hosts a monthly steel match on
the second Saturday of every month. We shoot the
entire Steel Challenge course of fire. We begin
about 9:30 am, and usually finish about 1:30 pm. The cost is $15. The
range does not have any amenities, so bring food and water. We are
located in Mariposa, CA, just 40 miles east of Merced in the historic
gold country. There are many small shops and restaurants as well as
gold rush era buildings and museums here.
Take Hwy. 140 to Mariposa, and at the
intersection of 140 and Hwy. 49, turn
right toward Oakhurst. Go 1 mile, and turn right on Old Highway. The
entrance is 2½ miles on the right at 4443 Old
Highway. The range sign says Mariposa Fish and
Game Protective Assn. The gate is secured with a
chain and spring hook. Go on through, be certain to
close the gate, and follow the dirt road about ¼ mile through a
second gate which is similarly secured. Close the
gate after you pass through. The pistol range is
right there. Special note: This club is very serious about gate
handling. The range is on a working cattle ranch. Failure to properly
close the gates will result in loss of our range,
and quite a few shooters very angry with you. |
